Next Great Bakers

One of our family goals this year is to have planned out family activities once a week. So this weekend we took the girls to Bruges Waffles and Frites and to Orson Gygi. Bruges was amazing like always. We love the waffles and they are fabulous plain as well as loaded with all their toppings!
We also stopped by Orson Gygi!!! This place was an instant hit with the girls! Their favorite TV shows are The Next Great Baker and Cake Boss. So when we walked in to Orson Gygi "a baker's paradise" the girls thought they were in heaven. Mackenzie grabbed a large white bucket and said, "Dad will you buy my this bucket of fondant!!!" So cute coming from a 4 year old. We had to let her know that we didn't know how to use it but we would try to take a class so we could buy the bucket of fondant. The girls settled on some frosting bags and a bunch of tips. For those of you that don't know, I am not a huge baker. I am always willing to try, I love to make cookies and brownies but I am not a huge cake maker. In fact, the only time my girls get a homemade birthday cake is when Grandma Gordon is around but she is currently in Baton Rouge, Louisiana serving a mission for our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints).
Alexis whipped up some cupcakes the next morning and the girls had a great time decorating them after church. They were a little surprised that it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. Buddy makes it all look so easy. Practice, practice, practice!!! We can't wait for Grandma to come teach us some of her tricks!
