The girls at the M&M factory
Day 1: This year we decided to drive with our 4 little munchkins to Newport, Ca. California is one of our favorite vacations but we've never driven. We thought it would be fun to take the girls to the St. George Temple as well as a night in Las Vegas.
For some crazy reason, wedidn't charge the movie players before we left so we decided to leave them home. It turned out great and our girls were allstar travelers!
Our first stop: Draper (15 minutes from home) for a bathroom break!!
2nd stop: Fillmore for lunch at Carl's Jr.
3rd stop: St. George
St. George was 80 degrees and gorgeous. The Temple and grounds were beautiful and it was fun to have the girls walk around. One of our family goals this years is to visit a Temple once a month and so this was our Temple trip for March! Mackenzie climbed the stairs so she could actually touch the Temple! It is always wonderful to take the girls to the Temple and this was such a great start to our family vacation.
Next stop Las Vegas. Eric and I went to Vegas when we were dating and it was the first time I had ever been there. It was definitely a different experience taking kids there but we had a great time. We were very open with the girls about what they would see and hear and it provided a great teaching opportunity about modesty, gambling and the word of wisdom. We stayed at the Club de Soleil and it was just a couple of miles off the strip.
I have always wanted to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe and so we did when we were in Vegas. The food was just okay, the dessert fantastic and the atmosphere was great. I just wish you didn't have to walk all the way through the casino to get to the restaurant. The girls thought it was a lot of fun and the magician that put a hole in Megan's sweatshirt was the highlight of the night!
We also took them on a very short walk on the strip to the M&M store. It was fun to see all the different colors of M&M's and the girls each picked out a few to take along on the trip! |
